LENOX, Mass. -- Ariana Saporito scored from third on a dropped third strike in the top of the eighth to snap a 4-4 tie and send the Monument Mountain softball team to a 6-4 win over Lenox on Monday.

Saporito started the game-winning rally with an infield single, stole second and went to third on Emily Shaw’s single. Shaw, who moved up on a walk and the dropped strike that allowed Saporito to score, stole home to provide an insurance run.

The Millionaires got a runner on base in the bottom of the eighth when Lexi Fletcher drew a walk, but she was erased on a double play as Alexa Troiano wrapped up the complete-game victory.

Troiano struck out three, walked three and scattered 11 hits. Shaw and Brianna Vanduesen each had two hits for the Spartans.

Lenox’s offense was led by Anna Lynch, who went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, and Riley Burke, who went 2-for-4 with a triple.

Lynch and Hannah Sibley combined to allow just three earned runs in eight innings in the circle for Lenox.

The Millionaires (1-5) travel to face St. Joseph on Thursday.
