Tobin Powers Pittsfield to Opening Win at Westfield

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Madison Tobin went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three runs batted in on Thursday as the Pittsfield softball team opened its Western Massachusetts title defense with a 12-3 win over Westfield.
 
Natasha Shade, Briana Clary, Sarah McMahon and Szofia Lewis each also had two hits in a 12-hit Pittsfield attack.
 
Lexi Sondrini hit a triple and had a sacrifice bunt.
 
Tess Lyon and Sophia Groves combined to allow just four hits. Lyon struck out two in four innings of work.
 
Pittsfield (1-0) goes to Mount Anthony on Monday.
