1st inning: We scored first when Tori Rumbolt got on with a walk, and stole 2nd. Alexis Bushika gets up to bat and hits a hard hit RBI single to center field, who bobbles it and Tori Scores, and Alexis moved all the way to third base on the bobble, then the throw was also bad and she scored.
Monument also scored this inning (1 run) on 2 errors made by us, (the second base and lef tfielders).
2nd inning: We didnt produce any runs, but Monument gained the lead momentarily when the lead batter got on with a single (Aspen Sawyer) and then moved to second on a fielders choice and then scored on an throwing error by shortstop when Leah McLeod was up to bat. Leah then scored as well on a 2 run homer hit with two outs by Alexis Nejame.
Both teams didnt score in the third. We picked up our defense and didnt make any more errors for the rest of the game, which was key for securing our win...
In the 4th, we scored when Carly Kondel got on with a walk, and Caroline Tomkowicz got on with a fielders choice single (the throw was to second but it wasnt in time and so both runners were safe. Brie Hayden (freshman - third varisty at bat) hits a rope triple to score both runners.
Brie got picked off at third, and then Kassy Kazimierczak got up to bat with no one on and hit a solo home run to left field.
In the 5th, Carly Kondel gets on with a single to center, and Caroline Tomkowicz hits a shot to left field for a triple. Caroline scored when the catcher tried to pick her off at third and iverthrew the ball.
In the 6th, Alexis Bushika gets on with a single and both runners are safe when Ashley Ciepiela hits a fielders choice to the shortstop and the throw was not in time. They both score on a triple to left center ripped by Tanelle Ciempa. Tanelle then scored on another single hit by Carly Kondel up the middle.
Alexis Bushika pitched a great game, striking out 12 of the 29 batters she faced and only walking 2. She worked all of her pitches and the defense finally stepped it up after the 2nd to really help her clinch the win.
