SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Julia Devoti hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth to erase an 8-6 deficit, and the Mount Everett softball team Thursday went on to a 9-8 win over Springfield Central.

 

Devoti also earned the win in the circle, striking out nine in a complete-game effort.

 

In addition to the game-winning home run, she helped her cause at the plate by doubling and going 4-for-4.

 

Mariah Broderick went 3-for-4 with a triple and a pair of RBIs, and Makayla Carpenter drove in three runs.

 

“Pretty resilient group of girls I have, they definitely like to make things interesting and stressful, but I was super proud of all of them for battling all game and finding a way at the end to get the win,” Mount Everett coach Joshua King said. “We had to put some girls in different positions with Julia pitching today and the girls stepped up and made the plays when we needed to. Wasn't perfect by any means but they found a way which shows they never quit on themselves or their teammates.”

 

Mount Everett (3-6) takes a three-game winning streak into Saturday’s game at Monument Mountain.
