NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Wahconah softball team defeated Drury Friday afternoon, 15-2, in five innings.

It started for Wahconah in the first inning with a two-run hit for Bridgette Lussier, who was then brought in by Emily Jordan to take a 3-0 lead right from the first inning.

"It's our fourth game this week, so I was worried we would be a little tired," Wahconah coach Dustin Belcher said. "But it's the best we've hit all week, I think it just becomes contagious once you start hitting the ball."

The Warriors then extended their lead to 9-0 in the second inning.

Drury retired the side in order in the top of the third, but Wahconah came out in the bottom of the inning and threw out three in a row at first base. It was then back on the board in the fourth inning with four more runs to make it 13-0.

"Defensively, Allie [Borowsky] has pitched four games this week. She's had a phenomenal week for us," Belcher said. "Today she needed some help, she was tired, you could see it; we did a nice job playing defense behind her and giving her some support."

Wahconah's final two runs came in the top of the fourth to leave the final score at 15-2.

Borowsky pitched all five innings, striking out three.

For Drury, Mya Howland and Allie Brassard each pitched two innings and had one strikeout. Jordan Owensby closed for the Blue Devils striking out two.

Wahconah travels to Lee Monday afternoon and Drury travels to Lee Tuesday. Both are 4 p.m. starts.
