DALTON, Mass — With a number of players battling illness on Thursday night, the Drury boys' basketball team needed one of its healthy players to step up and lead the Blue Devils to victory.

Senior forward Slayter Aubin took the call, scoring a game-high 17 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to carry Drury to a 49-33 win at Wahconah. Aubin scored more than half of his points from the free-throw line, while also playing in big part in a defensive effort that held the Warriors (1-18) to just 14 points in the first half.

The Blue Devils (10-7) led 24-14 at the break, but couldn't shake off a determined Wahconah team that cut the lead down to six points heading into the fourth. Jack Racette's squad pulled away in the final quarter, however, outscoring the hosts 17-7 to close out the game.

Drury had held the Warriors to just 46 points combined in two games at home earlier in the season, but the hosts proved to be a tougher out at home the third time around. Junior forward Nolan Bird chipped in with 10 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Devils, while senior center Brett Denning helped out with six points and seven boards.

Anthony Delmolino and Greg Horth each scored six points to lead Wahconah. Drury closes out the regular season with a road game against Hoosac Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
