DALTON, Mass — Warriors' guard John Lavinio scored nearly half of his team's points, and the defense of the Wahconah boys' basketball team stymied Drury in a 48-35 win at home on Tuesday night.

The Blue Devils just couldn't find a rhythm on offense all night and only managed to score more than 10 points in just one quarter of action. After trailing by just two points at halftime, Jack Racette's team was outscored 17-11 in the third quarter. Needing to win its remaining games to qualify for the Western Mass. tournament, Drury (7-11) went out quietly in the fourth quarter as the hosts outscored them 12-7 to end the game.

Devils forward Tyler Benoit was held to just seven points in the game, equal to less than half of his season scoring average. Junior Robert Jutras was Drury's leading scorer with eight points, while sophomore Nolan Bird added seven.

The Blue Devils and the Warriors (8-10) met three times this season, with Wahconah winning two out of the three meetings. Drury's offense struggled more and more against Wahconah as the season went on. They first scored 50 points in a win in the third game of the season, but only managed 46 and 35 points in subsequent losses.

The Blue Devils still have two more home games left this season, the first one coming on Thursday night against arch rival Hoosac Valley.
