This week's iBerkshires.com/Adams Community Bank Athletes of the Week are known for their scoring but noteworthy for the ways they distribute the ball.

Drury's Reece Racette is one of his team's "big two," averaging nearly 17 points per game and, along with Scott McGuire Jr. (26 ppg), giving the Blue Devils one of the top one-two scoring combinations in the county.

Racette also averages 4.5 assists per game, and he dished out five of them on Friday in a big win over Pittsfield High.

Racette and the Blue Devils hit the midpoint of the season with a 9-1 record and take a six-game winning streak into Monday's home game against Wahconah.

Wahconah High was the sight of major milestone last Thursday, when Mount Everett senior Gwendolyn Carpenter broke her school's all-time scoring record.

She could have made a run at that mark in the Eagles' final home game before they played four straight road games, but she was content passing out six assists and instead coming up a dozen points shy of the record in Tuesday's win over Monument Mountain.

"I was like, ‘I just want to win a game.’ " Carpenter said afterward. "This would be a really big win for us. So that was really what was in my mind. I wasn’t really even thinking about it. I wanted to get us the win.”

Carpenter and the Eagles have some work to do after a rough first half of the season that featured losses to Berkshire North powers Pittsfield, Hoosac Valley and Taconic.

But the Eagles (4-6) still have the tournament well within their reach as they open the second half on Tuesday at Pioneer.
