PALMER, Mass. -- McCann Tech's Shane Fuller scored a career-high 33 points, and the Hornets moved within one win of a Western Massachusetts tournament bid with an 84-38 win over Pathfinder on Monday night.

Fuller did most of his damage with 21 in the first quarter and only played half the game as McCann improved to 9-5 overall and 9-1 in the Tri-County League.

Collin Racette scored 11 points, including three 3-pointers, in the first eight minutes as McCann took a 29-8 lead after one quarter. Racette was making his first varsity spot in place of the injured Rahmer Vincent.

Freshman Cristen Montoya scored 10 for McCann.

"We had a solid effort all the way around tonight," McCann coach Mike Nykorchuck said. "Everybody played a lot of minutes, and we saw a lot of good things.

"I was very happy with the energy we played with coming off a big win against Gateway and making the long road trip tonight. We talked about not letting down, and our players responded."

McCann hosts Westfield Voc on Thursday night.
