Taconic Overcomes Slow Start at West Side

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Maimoudou Bamba, Tayvon Sandifer and Jamal Sistrunk each scored in double figures, and the Taconic boys basketball team Thursday overcame a slow start to earn a 62-40 win over West Springfield.
 
The Thunder (7-1) trailed, 9-5, at the end of the first quarter, but scored 23 points in the second quarter to take a 28-19 lead into half-time.
 
Sistrunk scored seven points in the second quarter and finished with 13 points, nine on 3-pointers.
 
Bamba led Taconic with 17 points. Sandifer scored 13.
 
Taconic plays Pittsfield at the Boys and Girls Club on Monday.
