Meczwyor Leads Hoosac Valley Boys Past Palmer

PALMER, Mass. -- Carson Meczwyor scored 28 points, and the Hoosac Valley boys basketball team exploded for 26 points in the third quarter of a 76-60 win over Palmer in the Hurricanes' season opener.
 
Caleb Harrington, Frank Field and Shaun Kastner Jr. each scored 11, and Joey McGovern added nine in the win.
 
"Good first win with many good performances," Hoosac Valley coach Bill Robinson said.
 
Hoosac Valley had a 33-30 lead at halftime before outscoring the Panthers, 26-10, in the third quarter to take control of the game.
 
Jack Letendre led Palmer with 31 points.
 
Hoosac Valley (1-0) hosts Monument Mountain on Friday.
