EASTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Khalil Carlson scored 33 points Thursday to lead the Monument Mountain boys basketball team to a 74-55 win over Easthampton.

Carlson went 14-for-18 from the field and a perfect 5-for-5 from the foul line as the Spartans improved to 3-2 this season.

"Khalil was extremely efficient on both ends of the floor," Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys said. "We hadn't played in 15 days, so we shook off the rust quickly and got off to a good start.

"Our bench was solid in the second quarter and helped stretch our lead out."

The Spartans outscored the Eagles, 20-11, in that second quarter to take a 39-24 advantage into half-time. Caden Gidarakos, Marco Buffoni and Kyle Wellenkamp each hit a 3-pointer in the quarter.

Wellenkamp finished the night with 13 points.

Tommy Varlancourt led Easthampton with 18.

Monument Mountain goes to Palmer on Monday.
