PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Joe Cracolici scored 13 points Thursday to lead the Pittsfield boys basketball team to a 47-43 win over Tantasqua.

“The story of the game was the balanced scoring, the better team defense in the second half, and Carter Matthews’ leadership,” Pittsfield coach Brandon Mauer said. “Carter struggled to start the game, but in the fourth quarter he hit two big 3s, a free throw, and caused three turnovers in a row in the final three minutes.

“His leadership and play helped us essentially seal the game for us.”

Matthews finished with seven points -- all in the last eight minutes to help Pittsfield outscore the visitors, 19-17, in the fourth.

Sincere Moorer scored eight, and Craig Jackson had seven.

Pittsfield (11-7) goes to Vermont to play Mount Anthony on Tuesday.
