WORCESTER, Mass. -- Doherty’s Zach Taylor hit a big 3-pointer in the final minute to give his team a 51-48 win over Pittsfield in a back-and-forth season opener for the Generals on Friday night.

Kymani Harley scored 21 points, and Craig Jackson had 10 for the Generals.

“Kymani Harley shouldered the offensive load, while also keeping his teammates involved at key moments,” PHS coach Brandon Mauer said. “Great minutes from the rest of the team. Troy Soldato hit a big three pointer with about 50 seconds left to tie the game.

“Unfortunately, the very next possession for Doherty, Zach Taylor hit a contested three to put them up for the go ahead bucket, sealing the game.”

Sincere Moorer and Ryan Jackson scored five and four, respectively, in the loss.

“I'm extremely proud of their effort and confident that this game will be a predictor of future efforts going forward,” Mauer said.

Pittsfield will look to pick up its first win on Saturday afternoon at Curry Hicks Cage at UMass-Amherst when the Generals take on Mahar.
