LENOX, Mass. — The Lenox boys' basketball team handed a staggering defeat to Franklin Tech high school during the first round of the Western Massachusetts Division 4 Tournament on Tuesday night as Bailey Patella led the Millionaires to a 93-37 win.

Patella scored 21 points as Lenox fans roared with each one of the sophomore guard’s posts to the net.

Patella also had nine rebounds during the game while teammate Ben Herrick scored 20 points. Guard Evan Lanoue earned another double-double during the matchup with 16 points and 12 assists.

"It was a good win for us," Patella said after the game. "We need to come out from the start and keep on working."

The Millionaires will face fourth-seeded Turners Falls on Friday in the quarter-finals.

"It should be a really good game," Patella said. "We’re evenly matched with them."

The No. 5 Millionaires easily defeated No. 12 Franklin Tech despite 19 points from the Eagles' Chris Wetherby. By the end of the first quarter Lenox was up 31 to 10 and continued to dominate the rest of the game holding the Eagles back until finally reaching the almost 60-point spread at game’s end.

Franklin Tech’s defense did come alive until the third quarter, making some stops on defense, but by then the score was 67-22 and no matter what they tried the Eagles could not stop the Millionaires' onslaught.

By the end of the fourth, the dominance of the Millionaires proved too much.

"We had some very good practices the last few days kind of refocused and we just came out and played very hard tonight," Lenox coach Scott Sibley said after the game. "We have to come right back in tomorrow, practice hard for another couple of days and hopefully we have some success on Friday."

According to Sibley, Friday’s game at Turners Falls will be a great match up for the Lenox boy's squad. and he was already beginning to make preparations for that game.

"Turners [Falls] runs a lot more man-to-man defense," he said. "They got some kids that can shoot, so we'll mix things up a little bit. They are a very good team, and I think there is not much difference between us and them ability wise."
