WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Drury boys basketball team eased to a 57-31 win over Mount Greylock Tuesday night on the road.

Scott McGuire Jr. and Reece Racette each scored 19 on the back end of a back-to-back road swing that saw them win both games in comfortable fashion: Monday at Belchertown and Tuesday at Mount Greylock.

“We just played last night, and it was a long trip down to Belchertown, and we came out a little flat,” Drury coach Jack Racette said. "No practice in between games, it’s tough with back-to-back days for high school kids.”

Fatigue may have been an issue for the Drury Blue Devils (7-1) as they looked to pressure Mount Greylock early and often. Drury was able to speed up the Mounties with its full court pressure, setting them up for easy points. Drury stayed in control from the start of the game, but it was lacking that knockout punch, allowing Mount Greylock (2-5) to hang around the game. Drury held a seven-point lead going into the second quarter and was slowing gaining momentum.

Toby Foehl led Mount Greylock in scoring but not in the normal fashion he has in past games. He was held to only six points in the game. This was mainly due to the attention of Drury’s defense, face guarding and really trying to take him out of the game. This disruption echoed throughout the team as Drury finally opened the game up a little going into the break.

The third quarter is where the game was finished off by Drury outscoring Mount Greylock, 22-3, in the quarter and really ending this game.

“We turned it up a little bit in the third quarter and finished around the basket, we weren’t finishing in the first half,” coach Racette added.

A big reason for this turnaround was offensive rebounding. Drury was able to turn missed shots into second chance points with the effort on the glass, part of which freshman Tim Brazeau helped out in a big way.

“We’re trying to move Tim along now, hopefully he can help us down the stretch, he’s a big body and has some work to do but so do we,” Racette added.

Mount Greylock will try and end a four-game skid at Lee on Thursday night.

Drury will take a couple of much needed days off before hosting Pittsfield Friday night at home. The Blue are riding a four-game win streak and will look to continue that positive momentum.
