NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The McCann Tech boys basketball team ran Duggan out of the gym with a commanding, 91-56, win Thursday night.

It was a balanced attack from McCann, as they had five players in double figures. Lucas Jamros let the way with 24 points, While Jeremy Beany pitched in with 17.

The final score didn’t tell the story here in the first quarter as it was a back-and-forth game that actually saw Duggan (4-5) ahead after one, 19-15. That lead did not last very long as McCann (6-4) came out guns blazing towards the end of the first quarter and into the second quarter outscoring Duggan, 33-16.

It all began off a nice and-one play by Jeremy Beany set up by Keeghan Vidal. Late in the first quarter, McCann Tech coach Chris Bullett called two timeouts in quick succession to try and get the Hornets back on track.

“We just had to take advantage of their size.” Bullett said. “We were sloppy breaking the zone. We lost our composure for a few minutes in the first, but once we got it back I was happy with what we were doing.”

The team got the message and went on to lead 48-35 at half. Duggan pushed the tempo early but eventually was shut down by the McCann defense. Like they did in the second quarter the Hornets continued to force turnovers setting them up for easy baskets. Point guard Vidal was a huge piece of this flowing offense finding open players possession after possession.

“Keeghan is big for us all the time. When he’s himself and doesn’t try and do too much he’s unbelievable,” Bullet said. “We have so many different guys with different skills that all work together, but Keegan is the one who knows how to find them all in the right spots.”

Vidal also finished with 10 points after a great display of passing all game long. Once McCann Tech took the lead, it never looked back and cruised the easy win.

The Hornets will head on the road next Tuesday against Franklin County Tech.
