DALTON, Mass. -- Tom O’Connor scored 20 points Monday to lead the Wahconah boys basketball team to a 67-34 win over Southwick in the first round of the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament.

 

Fifth-seeded Wahconah jumped out to a 23-5 lead after one quarter and never looked back as it improved to 16-5 and set up a Thursday quarter-final at No. 4 Easthampton (14-6), which received a bye through the first round.

 

Kevin Huban scored 17, and Tim Clayton and Luke Hescock had eight points apiece.

 

Wahconah Thursday will be looking to get back to the semi-finals at Curry Hicks Cage in Amherst for the third straight season.
