Hoosac Digs Too Big a Hole Against St. Joe's

ADAMS, Mass — The offense of the Saint Joseph's boys' basketball team came out swinging on Tuesday night. The Crusaders lit up the scoreboard for 23 points in the first quarter alone, putting them on the right path to cruise to a 67-48 win at Hoosac Valley.

St. Joe's (6-2) opened up a 23-8 lead after the first quarter of play and increased their advantage in the second quarter to earn a 21-point edge at the half. The Hurricanes (1-8) battled back to cut the visitors' lead down to 13 points midway through the third quarter, but the Crusaders made a run of their own to go back up by 24 and coasted the rest of the way.

"We looked scared at times out there on offense," Hoosac head coach Bill Robinson said. "We weren't making anything happen and ended up taking bad shots or turning the ball over. We did show a little heart in making an early run to start the third quarter, but St. Joe's was just too much for us tonight."

Tank Roberson was one of three players to score in double figures for the Crusaders. He finished with a game-high 14 points, while teammates Lavante Wiggins and Mike McMahon added 13 and 12 points, respectively. Sophomore forward Trevor Alibozek lead the 'Canes with 11 points, while classmate Sean Ryan-Kut had a solid overall game with six points, five rebounds and four assists.

Hoosac next hosts Wahconah at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
