PITTSFIELD, Mass — Stefon Charles had a night to remember at the expense of the Hoosac Valley boys' basketball team on Friday night.

The Taconic senior came through for his team in what could be the final game of his career, drilling six 3-pointers and scoring a career-high 31 points to lead the Braves to a 63-49 win at home. Charles got really hot in the third quarter, draining three shots from long distance and going 2 for 2 from the foul line to score 11 of his team's 22 points in the frame.

That proved to be the difference for Taconic (7-13, 7-6), which led 25-22 at halftime. Thanks to Charles' scoring outburst in the third, the hosts doubled up the Hurricanes 22-11 in the frame to build a 14-point lead heading into the fourth. Drew Scace added 12 points for the Braves, who ironically now need Hoosac (2-16, 2-9) to beat rival Drury on Monday night in order for them to tie the Blue Devils for second place in the North Division and earn a spot in the Western Mass. tournament.

Sophomore guards Matt Braman and Sean Ryan-Kut scored 13 and 11 points, respectively, for the 'Canes, who also received nine points and four boards out of junior Andrew Milesi. Ryan-Kut also came up with four rebounds and a team-high five assists, while sophomore forward Trevor Alibozek helped out on the glass with 11 rebounds.

Monday's game against the Blue Devils is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Adams Memorial School.
