WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass — Forget the final game of the regular season. The Mount Greylock boys' basketball team saved its best for the last quarter of the year, exploding for 33 points in the fourth quarter to earn a runaway 67-49 win over Lee on Wednesday night.

The Mounties (15-5) trailed by eight points heading into the fourth quarter but held the Wildcats to just seven points over the final eight minutes of the game. After scoring a total of 34 points over the first three quarters of play, Greylock came up just one point short of matching that total with its offensive explosion in the fourth. Sophomore guard Tyrell Thomas scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the fourth, while junior teammate Hank Barrett was a perfect 6 for 6 from the free-throw line in the frame. Barrett was actually 8 for 8 from the charity stripe overall, finishing with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists.

Junior center Tyler Picard also posted a double-double for the Mounties, finishing with 14 points and 11 boards. Senior forward Avery Cunningham went 3 of 5 from 3-point land on the night to finish with nine points for Greylock, which ended up finishing one game behind Lee (15-5) in the South Division standings. Guard Matt Scapin led the Wildcats by scoring 18 points.

Both teams might have a chance to meet again in the upcoming Division 3 Western Mass. tournament. Seedings for the tournament will be released on Saturday.
