NORTH ADAMS, Mass — The Lenox Millionaires came out with tons of energy on both sides of the ball and took down Drury High 64-32, in the opening game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, at MCLA.

Drury couldn't get anything going offensively versus the Millionaire's pesky zone defenses.  By halftime the Blue Devils were down by 20 (38-18) and couldn't fight their way back.

"They're a good team, they have length and seven seniors." said Drury head coach Jack Racette. "It comes down to me, we weren't prepared and their zone gave us a lot of problems."

Lenox came out from the tip and harassed Drury, forcing turnovers that got Lenox's transition game working.  "This was our first big game, so we got pretty pumped up, we needed to prove something." said Lenox's Kevin Carpenter.

Lenox did just that, and moves to 7-0 on the season with a big win.

"We were a little nervous coming into the game.  We haven't played in over a week, and just because things look good in practice, doesn't mean it will translate to the game." said Lenox's coach Brian Cogswell.

You wouldn't have been able to tell as Lenox started the game with a 9-0 run, ending the opening quarter up 17-5.  Austin Martin sparked the Millionaires with nine of his 10 points in the first quarter, all from beyond the arc.

The Bravo brothers played well on the defensive end, disrupting passes.  They also did the bulk of the scoring, Chris Bravo led all scorers with 16 and Andrew had 13.  Kevin Carpenter added eight points along with four steals.

"We played a team game today.  It was important to our success because we didn't have to be reliant on Kevin [Carpenter]." said Cogswell.

For Drury, Donyel Daugherty had seven points, Robert Jutras added 10, and Tyler Benoit led all Blue Devils with 11.

After the game, Benoit said "We didn't play well at all, we need to pick it up and get a win on Monday."

Drury visits Lee High School on Monday, at 7:30 p.m.
