Big Second Half Lifts Hoosac Valley Girls Past Drury

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- Lexi Mercier scored 17 of her game-high 22 points in the second half as the Hoosac Valley girls basketball team Saturday pulled away for a 70-37 win over Drury in a Berkshire County North-South crossover game.
 
The Blue Devils (11-8) hung tough in the first half. The game was tied after one quarter, and the Hurricanes led 26-21 at half-time.
 
But Hoosac Valley exploded for 22 points in the third quarter and tacked on 22 more in the last eight minutes.
 
Averie McGrath and Shaleigh Levesque each scored nine for the Hurricanes, who got eight apiece from Alie Mendel and Sarah Field.
 
Drury was led by Brooke DiGennaro with 15. Tess Zoito and Hayley Shook added seven and six, respectively.
 
The Blue Devils finish the regular season at home against Mount Greylock on Wednesday.
 
Hoosac Valley (15-3) continues a stretch of five games in nine days when it plays Scituate on Monday at the Foxborough Tournament.
