Gamberoni Sets Wahconah School Record in Win over Mount Everett

DALTON, Mass. -- Maria Gamberoni scored on first quarter fast break to set Wahconah's all-time girls basketball scoring record and went on to a 17-point night in leading her team to a 58-23 win over Mount Everett on Thursday.
 
Her third point of the night allowed Gamberoni to move past Wahconah graduate Meghan Vaughan, who finished her high school career with 1,214 points.
 
Gamberoni scored eight points in the first quarter as Wahconah jumped out to a 23-5 lead.
 
Noelle Furlong scored 12 points, and Grace Wigington and Emma Belcher added six apiece in the win.
 
Mount Everett got six points from Emily Steuernagle. Emma Goewey and Maggy Sarnacki each scored five.
 
Unbeaten Wahconah goes to Hoosac Valley on Tuesday.
 
Mount Everett is at Mount Greylock on Friday.
