SHEFFIELD, Mass. – Isabella Meadows scored 27 points, and the Pope Francis girls basketball team jumped ahead early en route to a 63-55 win over Mount Everett on Monday night.

Meadows scored 14 in the first quarter, when the Cardinals took a 20-11 lead.

Emma Goewey scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Mount Everett (7-8), which got 15 points from Emily Steuernagle.

“At one point in the fourth, Pope was up 15 and my girls could have easily packed it in but they didn't and they're a pretty resilient team and I can honestly say I'm proud of the effort we always put forth,” Mount Everett coach Josh King said. “It'll be a quick turnaround for us as we have practice and then head out to Pope Francis [on Wednesday].”
