Canales Scores 16 to Lead Hoosac Valley Girls in Opener

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Annie Canales scored 16 points Wednesday to lead the Hoosac Valley girls basketball team to a 53-27 win over Mount Greylock.
 
The teams' shook off some serious rust after combining for just four points in the first quarter.
 
Canales got hot in the second, striking three times from behind the 3-point arc on her way to an 11-point quarter that helped the Hurricanes take an 18-8 lead into the half.
 
Canales finished with four 3-pointers.
 
Alyssa Garabedian was right behind her in the scoring column with 14 points. Rylynn Witek and Sharaya Keele each added eight for the Hurricanes.
 
Delaney Babcock scored nine for Mount Greylock, which is home again on Thursday night to host Wahconah.
