Wahconah's Kay Gets 200th Win in Regular Season Finale

GRANBY, Mass. -- It was a night of milestones in Granby’s gymnasium on Wednesday as the Wahconah girls basketball team finished the regular season with a 50-37 win over the Rams.
 
Wahconah coach Liz Kay earned her 200th career victory with the “W.” Kay, who has been at Wahconah the last six years, also has won at the Stoneleigh-Burnham School, Coventry (Conn.) and Amherst.
 
History also was made for the home team as Nora Young scored 25 points to become the all-time scoring leader (boys and girls) at Granby.
 
Young had 11 of her points in the fourth quarter, which Wahconah entered with a 36-21 lead.
 
Noelle Furlong scored a team-high 21, and Maria Gamberoni scored 16 in the win.
 
Wahconah (16-4) Saturday learns where and against whom it will open play in the Western Massachusetts Division 3 tournament.
