Gamberoni Leads Wahconah Past Pittsfield in Semi-Finals

DALTON, Mass. – Olivia Gamberoni scored 16 points Wednesday to lead the Wahconah girls basketball team to a 61-38 win over Pittsfield in the semi-finals of the Western Massachusetts Class B regional tournament.
 
Gamberoni scored 11 in the pivotal second quarter, when Wahconah outscored the Generals, 16-7, to erase an 18-12 deficit.
 
The hosts carried that momentum into the fourth quarter, when Eva Eberwein scored 10 of her 14 points to help build a 47-34 lead.
 
Ella Quinto scored 10, and Dani Barry added eight in the win.
 
Pittsfield (11-9) got 12 points from Jamie Duquette and a double-double (11 points, 14 rebounds) from Randi Duquette. 
 
The Generals learn this weekend where and when they begin play in the state tournament.
 
Wahconah (16-4) heads to Westfield High on Saturday to face South Hadley in the regional tournament final. In the regular season, Wahconah beat South Hadley by scores of 63-28 and, more recently, 54-52.
