DALTON, Mass. -- The Lee girls' basketball team capped off a highly successful regular season with a 38-33 road win over Wahconah on Wednesday. With the victory, the Wildcats (15-5) clinched the North Division title, finishing with a 9-1 record in league play and remaining one game ahead of second-place Drury.

In addition to the game-high 19 points scored by senior point guard Eileen Dooley, Lee also controlled Wednesday's contest thanks to an impressive defensive effort that held the Warriors' leading scorer, Gabby Lavinio, to just two points. Wahconah (11-9) trailed 24-19 at halftime but rallied back to make it a close game by holding the visitors to just four points in the third quarter. June Blake's squad pulled within two points heading into the fourth, but the Wildcats made more plays down the stretch to pull out the hard-fought win.

Senior forward Stephanie Young added nine points for Lee, while sophomore Maddie Sprague led the way for the Warriors with 10 points and six rebounds. Senior center Shannon Lussier also had solid night for the Warriors, scoring eight points to go along with a team-high 10 boards.

Both teams will now move on to their respective Western Mass. tournaments. Seedings for all tournament games will be announced at the Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday afternoon.
