Sprague Leads Wahconah Past South Hadley

CHESHIRE, Mass. — Maddie Sprague scored 14 points to lead the Wahconah girls basketball team to a 44-29 win over South Hadley in the first round of the Hoosac Valley Holiday Tournament on Friday night.
 
Sprague scored 10 points in the second half, and McKenna McIlquham scored four in a 16-6 second quarter that allowed Wahconah to take control of the game.
 
Katie Dumas chipped in nine for Wahconah, which faces the host Hurricanes in Saturday's championship game.
Hoosac beat Wahconah in Dalton, 69-42, in the season-opener.
 
Kara Callham scored nine for South Hadley, which meets Sci-Tech in Saturday's consolation round.
