TURNERS FALLS, Mass. -- Gwendolyn Carpenter scored 21 points Thursday to lead the Mount Everett girls basketball team to a season-opening 53-23 win over Smith Academy at the Franklin Tech Tournament.

 

Madison Ullrich finished with 10 points, and Mackenzie Ullrich added eight for the Eagles (1-0).

 

Mount Everett faces Hopkins Academy on Friday evening in the tournament championship game.
