ADAMS, Mass. — Up by 12 points over Mount Everett at halftime, the Hoosac Valley girls' basketball team appeared to be cruising toward its third straight win on Friday night. The Eagles dominated the third quarter, however, outscoring the Hurricanes 18-5 in the frame to take a one-point lead. Ron Wojcik's young club turned up its game in the fourth quarter, though, holding Everett to just five points while pulling away for a 53-43 win at home.

"Both teams played a hard, very physical game," Wojcik said. "Tara Sullivan had a triple-double for Everett. She was tough in the paint against us all night and had us adjusting our shots. We played like we were very young at times but did a nice job turning things back around in the fourth quarter."

Sullivan finished with a game-high 19 points, 14 rebounds and 13 blocks, helping the Eagles (5-3) rebound from a 32-20 deficit at the half. After falling behind 38-37 after three quarters, Hoosac (4-1) closed out the game with an impressive 16-5 run. Freshman Emily Rosse had another solid night with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while sophomore guard Jenn Gale was a menace on the defensive end, making 11 steals to go along with her 13 points and three assists.

"Emily was a force, especially in the fourth quarter," Wojcik said.

Sophomore forward Megan Rodowicz added 11 points and seven rebounds for the 'Canes, who next play at St. Joe's at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.
