PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Junior Courtney McLaughlin was too much for the Mount Greylock girls' basketball team to take on Tuesday night, scoring a game-high 27 points to lead Pittsfield to a 59-37 win at home.

McLaughlin broke out for 18 points in the first half, helping the Generals (10-3) to a 24-18 lead at the break. The hosts increased their lead to 10 points after three quarters and clinched a berth in the Division 1 Western Mass. tournament by doubling up the Mounties 24-12 in the fourth.

"We hung with Pittsfield through most of the game, but we didn't have an answer for McLaughlin," Greylock head coach Paul Barrett said. "She was tough from the outside and in the open floor to go with a few drives. Threes by Sierra Holland and Lucy Barrett brought us to within 12 points with three minutes remaining, but a couple of outside shots by Meghan Face killed the rally."

Face finished with 11 points and six rebounds for the Generals, who also got 10 points and 15 boards from senior Jill Ritrosky. Overall, Pittsfield outrebounded the Mounties 33-23.

Freshman guard Lucy Barrett led Greylock (4-8) with a team-high 17 points and five rebounds. Senior forward Sierra Holland hit three shots from behind the arc to finish with nine points.

The Mounties next host Monument Mountain at 7 p.m. on Thursday, while the Generals welcome Hoosac Valley at the same time that night.
