CHESHIRE, Mass. — The Hoosac Valley girls' basketball team showed what it could do against a zone defense on Friday night, and the result wasn't a pretty one for Saint Joseph's.

The Hurricanes won their third game in a row thanks to a stellar shooting performance that included 10 3-pointers on Friday night. Six different players nailed shots from behind the arc for Hoosac, which started the game on a 20-2 run on its way to a 63-15 win at home. The game was well out of reach by halftime, as Ron Wojcik's club went into the locker room up 44-5.

"We started slowly, missing numerous lay-ups early, but we settled down and opened up a big lead by halftime," Wojcik said. "The girls shot the ball well against St. Joe's zone defense."

Freshman Madison Ryan had the hottest hand on the night, sinking three treys to finish with a team-high 11 points and six assists. Sophomore Amber Lesure added a pair of threes to finish with nine points and five rebounds, while classmate Emily Rosse did her damage down low, collecting 11 points to go along with nine boards.

Liz Bean was the lone bright spot for the Crusaders (1-3), scoring 10 of her team's 15 points in the game.

The Hurricanes (5-2) resume play again on Thursday with a game at Mount Everett at 7 p.m.
