PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Hoosac Valley girls' basketball team wasted little time taking control of Monday night's game against Saint Joseph's. The Hurricanes exploded for 22 points in each of the first two quarters, giving the visitors a commanding 44-11 lead at halftime. That was more than enough cushion for Hoosac to pick up a 73-25 win, improving the Hurricanes' South Division record to a perfect 6-0 in the process.

It was Hoosac's second victory of more than 40 points against the Crusaders (8-10) this year. Ron Wojcik's squad set a new season high for points in a game and placed 12 different players into the scoring column. Junior forward Megan Rodowicz led the way with 13 points and four rebounds for the 'Canes, while sophomore center Emily Rosse added 12 points and five boards.

Junior Jenn Gale also had a solid all-around game for Hoosac (13-5), scoring seven points, grabbing seven rebounds, collecting four steals and dishing out three assists. Sophomore guard McKenzie Robinson also chipped in with five points and a team-high seven assists.

Senior Kendall Smith led the way for St. Joe's with 11 points.

The Hurricanes return to action with a home game against Mount Greylock at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
