Greylock Falls to Lenox in Season Finale

LENOX, Mass. -- The Mount Greylock girls' basketball team will probably want to forget Wednesday's 67-32 loss at Lenox. Unfortunately for the Mounties, they have an entire offseason to remember the outcome.

Greylock (6-13) allowed a season high in points in the final game of the season, surrendering 19 points apiece in both the first and second quarters to fall behind 38-17 at halftime. The Millionaires (12-8) didn't let up in the second half either, outscoring the visitors 14-6 in the third quarter to put the game away for good. Forward Hayden Zinchuk scored a game-high 23 points for Lenox, while center Liz Mitts also had a big night with 20.

Sophomore guard Lucy Barrett scored more than half of the Mounties' points on the night, sinking nine free throws and a pair of 3-pointers on her way to a team-high 17 points. Barrett also pulled down a team-high eight rebounds in a game where Greylock only had 16 boards.

While it's been a bit of a struggle for Greylock this season, head coach Paul Barrett can take solace in the fact that he is only losing one player from this year's squad. Barrett returns his top three scorers next year, including his daughter Lucy, who is one of the top shooters in Berkshire County. Lucy averaged 15.63 points a game this year and led the team with 37 threes.

Fellow captain Mackenzie Flynn will also return after finishing second in both scoring (6.68 ppg) and rebounding (5.26 rpg), as will freshman Arianna Walden, who showed promise as a developing point guard in her first year on the team.
