SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- A strong first half, coupled with quality performances by Mary Nguyen and Eileen Zajac helped the McCann Tech girls' basketball team outlast Sci-Tech for a 43-38 road win on Tuesday. 

Nguyen scored in double figures for the third straight game, finishing with a team-high 15 points to go along with seven rebounds and 13 steals. Zajac was equally impressive, notching her first double-double of the year with 12 points and game-high 13 boards. The Hornets, who improved to 4-5 overall and 3-1 in league play, started the game off on a 12-4 run. Mike Dowling's club increased its lead to 11 points by halftime before fighting off an eager CyberCats team in the second half. 

Brandi Bass finished with a game-high 18 points for Sci-Tech. 

McCann will try to keep its three-game win streak going with another Bi-County West game at Southwick on Thursday. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
