BENNINGTON, Vt. -- The Wahconah girls' basketball team certainly won't miss playing in Vermont after dropping their second straight game to a Green Mountain State opponent on Tuesday. The Warriors' offense struggled in the second half for the second consecutive game, resulting in a 45-34 loss at Mount Anthony.

After trailing 22-15 at halftime, Wahconah (1-3) rallied back to make it a one-possession game heading into the fourth quarter. Despite tying the game with five minutes remaining, the visitors were unable to generate enough offense down the stretch. The Patriots, meanwhile, outscored the Warriors 16-8 in the fourth quarter to pull away.

"We had come up with some good defensive stands to tie the game, but we were just unable to translate that into offensive production," Warriors head coach June Blake said. "Maddie Sprague had a great night for us, scoring 16 points and collecting nine rebounds."

Sprague's big night led all scorers, while senior guard Gabby Lavinio chipped in with 10 points, three rebounds and two assists. Maddy Main led the Mount Anthony attack with 13 points, one of nine Patriots to find their way into the scoring column. Wahconah, meanwhile, only had four players with baskets on the night.

After four straight home games to start the season, the Warriors will finally to get to play a game on their home court on Friday night. They host North Division rival Monument Mountain at 7:30 p.m.
