PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- In what turned out to be a tight game against a quality opponent, a big second quarter was the difference in the Pittsfield girls' basketball team's 53-42 win over Mount Anthony on Wednesday. 

The Patriots, who defeated Wahconah by 10 points earlier in the season, played toe to toe with the Generals (5-2) for most of the game. The one time the visitors faltered was in the second quarter, however, as the hosts outscored Mount Anthony 18-8 in the frame. 

"We jumped out to an 11-point lead in the second quarter thanks to Dominique Satrape, who scored nine of her 12 points in the second," Pittsfield head coach Joe Racicot said. "Lauren Carnevale's defensive work throughout the game helped us maintain our lead." 

Senior Courtney McLaughlin tied her season high in points with 22 for the Generals, scoring 11 of those points from the free-throw line. Classmate Rachael Hunt also had a solid night, collecting 13 points, six rebounds and three assists. In addition to her great defense, Carnevale ripped down a team-high nine boards. 

MaKayla Farrara led the way for the Patriots by scoring 17 points. 

The Generals next play at city rival Taconic at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
