PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Pittsfield girls' basketball team struggled in the fourth quarter for the second game in a row, allowing Lee to score 21 points in the final frame to give the Wildcats a 54-44 win at the Coaches vs. Cancer Showcase on Saturday.

The Generals, which were outscored 15-3 in the fourth quarter in a loss to Monument Mountain on Thursday, were up by one point heading at the start of the fourth quarter against Lee. The Wildcats (8-3) defeated Pittsfield (7-4) for the second time this month, however, by outscoring Joe Racicot's squad 21-10 over the final frame.

"Lee made 12 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter, and Eileen [Dooley] worked extremely hard to control the tempo of the game," Racicot said. "We got solid contributions from several of our players, but it just wasn't enough tonight."

The game featured the top two teams in the North Division this season, and the Wildcats prevailed in large part due to senior Stephanie Young's game-high 29 points. Dooley also added 13 points, while both her and Young combined to miss just two of the 18 foul shots they took in the game.

Sophomore Lauren Carnevale was strong for the Generals in the post, posting a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Courtney McLaughlin notched 13 points and four assists, while fellow captain Rachael Hunt added 11 points and seven boards.

Pittsfield will try to snap its two-game skid with a home game against Hampshire at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
