Artist’s Reception at the North Adams Library

Local artist Jennifer K. Mulcahy will welcome the public to a “Walk and Talk” through her latest exhibit, “Inner Visions,” on Thursday, November 8 from 6:30 to 7:30 at the North Adams Public Library. As a visual artist, Mulcahy explores her view of the world through photography, photomanipulation, photomontage and oil painting. Upstairs in the library’s hallway and Reference / Non-fiction room are images from her trip to Scotland several years ago, digitally manipulated to reflect the artist’s mind’s eye view. The downstairs exhibit includes paintings and more photographs: some fantastical photo collages, some portraits and architectural images, and some shot with an infrared filter. Her photomontage piece "The Roots of Confidence," displayed in the library’s original stairway, won Pittsfield's Art of the Game billboard contest this year. “In my art, I seek to capture the way I see the world,” says Mulcahy. “My photography is inspired by texture, shape and emotion. Capturing images is one of my primary means of relating with the world. Travel photography is a passion of mine, and I strive to convey the joy and surprises I find while I explore.” Mulcahy’s work will be on display at the library through December. The North Adams Public Library is located at 74 Church St., at the head of Main St. It is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 to 8; Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 to 5, and Saturdays from 9 to 1. It is closed on Sundays.
