| New York City-based singer-songwriter Nadine Goellner [Mass MoCA] |
She will share her talents with Alt Cab audiences on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 8 in Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art's Club B-10. The New Yorker says Goellner "artfully blends soul and jazz with her signature acoustic scatting."
Using techniques straight out of folk music and blending in her own jazz scat vocals, Goellner has created a musical style all her own. Her arrangements have earned her a growing audience in New York and across the country. Wes Soriano of The Aquarian suggests, "Goellner's voice is so smooth and glides so easily through her songs, one can easily be left in vocal envy," and The Arizona Daily Star raves, "New York City singer-songwriter Nadine Goellner has a voice that's hauntingly unforgettable... It will linger with you long after you leave her concert."
Goellner's debut album, "Remember My Name," earned her comparisons to recording sensations Norah Jones, Edie Brickell, Chaka Khan and Christina Aguilera, and her second album, "Sing It To Me Anyway," was hailed by All Music Guide as "one of the strongest indie releases of 2004."
She has performed at various showcases and festivals across the country and has shared the stage with many notable artists, including jazz great Diane Schuur; acclaimed performing songwriters Patty Larkin, Keren Ann, John Gorka, Catie Curtis, Jeffrey Gaines, and Susan Werner; and Grammy- winning artists Jesse Harris and Colin Hay, among others. Along with her successful recording career, Goellner has also been featured on ABC News Now and NBC News in stories about her volunteer work in assorted health care facilities for a NYC-based charity Musicians on Call.
Goellner will be joined by her band: Anna Dagmar on piano, Bob Hart on bass and Mark Stepro on drums.
