Weavers And Spinners To Exhibit Work At MCLA Gallery 51

NORTH ADAMS – Members of the Green Mountain Weavers and Spinners Guild will exhibit their work and tools of the~trade at MCLA Gallery 51 this Saturday, Feb. 9, Noon to 5 p.m.

Guild members will demonstrate spinning on treadle and electric spinning wheels, as well as yarn preparation prior to weaving. Several types of looms will be set up and ready for people to try their hand at weaving. In addition, the group will explain the process and answer questions.

The event is free and open to the public. Those who attend will be encouraged to weave and may take some of their results home. This event will take place coordination with MCLA Gallery 51’s exhibit, “Handmade: A Look at Contemporary Crafts.”

SteepleCats Shut Out on Road

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
 
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
