DALTON – Doreen Newton and Dianne Steele will join The Wanna B’s for a double-header performance on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 3 p.m. to kick off the “Sing Praise to the Lord Series” at Dalton United Methodist Church, 755 Main St.This nondenominational Lenten music series is free and open to the public. It will be hosted by Dalton United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. each Sunday through March 16, with a different Berkshire County group performing each week. A free-will offering will be taken each week and all attending will be invited for refreshments in the Fellowship Hall.
The Winnard Family of Cheshire will perform on Sunday, Feb. 24, and the March 2 performance will feature two groups: the Gospel Chorus of the Second Congregational Church of Pittsfield and Cross Talk Praise Band of Dalton United Methodist Church. The March 9 program also features a double-header: The Messengers and The Morning Gospel Chorale, both from United Methodist Church of Lenox. The series concludes on Palm Sunday, March 16, with The Becket Praise Team.
Newton and Steele came together for the first time in 1999 to record “Sight of the Angels,” and their unity in spirit and deep friendship shines through in their harmonies as they perform. The Wanna B’s delight in their impressions of oldies performers, but will focus on Gospel classics for their Lenten series performance.
