Viking Men Victors Over Host MCLA, 118 to 92

NORTH ADAMS - Salem State's (17-7, 7-3) Dylan Holmes doubled his season average in both points and rebounds scoring 30 points and pulling down 13 rebounds to lead the Vikings over host MCLA (6-17, 1-9) on Monday.

MCLA's Dave Bisesi scored a team high 23 points on the afternoon.

Salem State took a 61-36 lead into the break. MCLA made some adjustments and came out fighting. Held scoreless in the first half, Benny Cuprill exploded for 15 points in the second half. Diante Ellis also ended up in double figures finishing with 17 points and Mike Perreault finished with 13 points. Unfortunately, the Vikings also had four players in double figures.

In addition the Holmes' effort on the afternoon, Marquis Victor scored 27, Jeremi Tate scored 19, and Thomas Henderson added 13 in the win. The Trailblazers actually shot better from the floor with a 55 percent to 50 percent margin for the game. Rebounding ended up being the difference in the game with Salem collecting 53 and MCLA 31.

SteepleCats Shut Out on Road

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
 
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
