Local Writers to Read at Gallery 51
NORTH ADAMS - Novelist Jim Shepard and poet Trudy Ames will read from their works at Gallery 51, 51 Main St., on Thursday, March 6, at 7 p.m.Shepard, a Williams College professor, has written six novels and three short-story collections. His most recent collection of stories, "Like You'd Understand Anyway," was nominated for a National Book Award in September 2007. His fiction has appeared in a wide range of publications, including Harper's, McSweeney's, The Paris Review, The Atlantic Monthly, Esquire, Granta, The New Yorker and Playboy.
Shepard also teaches in the college's Warren Wilson MFA program, and is a columnist for the magazine The Believer.
Ames teaches English at Mount Greylock Regional High School in Williamstown. Her work has been published in The Southern Review, LIT, Under One Roof, Holding True and Crossing Paths. She is the recipient of two National Endowment for the Humanities grants, three Olmsted awards, and a Horace Mann grant.
