NBH Elects Newcomers to Board of Trustees

NORTH ADAMS — Corporators of Northern Berkshire Healthcare elected Julia Bolton of Williamstown and Richard Jette of Adams to the NBH board of trustees at the annual meeting.

Re-elected were Ellen Bernstein, Stephen Fix, William Greenwald, Bruce Grinnell, Dr. Erwin Stuebner and Dr. Arthur Turton.

Bolton enjoyed a long career in health care, both as educator and hospital administrator. She was vice president of operations and chief nursing officer at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, a unit of Southwestern Vermont Health Care. During her tenure, she initiated many improvements to patient care and nursing practice and led the hospital to the achievement of Magnet Status. Upon her retirement, she was recognized for her leadership, advocacy for staff and patients, and her commitment to caring with the establishment of an annual quality award and the installation of a stained-glass mural in the hospital's lobby that depicts the themes in her work.

Jette is a certified public accountant and consultant to businesses and organizations. He is a former president and managing director of Adelson & Company P.C. Jette is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. He serves on the boards of directors of South Adams Savings Bank, Berkshire Children and Families and the Adams Lions Club, and is a past member of the Adams-Cheshire Regional School Committee.


The new and re-elected board members are joined by sitting trustees Chairman Stephen Pagnotta, Jane Allen, Stephen Klass, Denise Richardello, Bryon Sherman and Martha Storey. NBH President and Chief Executive Officer Richard T. Palmisano and medical staff President Dr. Paul Donovan serve as ex-officio members.

NBH corporators serve as liaisons to the Northern Berkshire community and have the authority to approve nominations to the boards of corporators and of trustees, and make adjustments in the bylaws governing NBH.

SteepleCats Shut Out on Road

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
 
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
