NORTH ADAMS — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts is accepting enrollment for summer courses; the schedule is available at www.mcla.edu/summer.

The first of the two six-week sessions runs from May 27 to July 3.

Students may fulfill requirements of other colleges with classes at MCLA in sciences, math and foreign language. Hybrid online courses are available, including studies in business, philosophy, women's studies, college writing, and mass media. Accelerated courses such as Spanish, economics, psychology, and TV production will be offered as well.

  • "TV Production" teaches the principles, theory, and practice of production by giving students hands-on experience in broadcasting in the TV studio. This class is offered as a hybrid course, a combination of traditional classroom and a online work.

  • "American Justice System," held in Pittsfield, provides hands-on knowledge of the civil and criminal courts, police and corrections departments, and local governmental, administrative and regulatory agencies. Students will travel to Juvenile Court to witness proceedings and visit the local district attorney's office for discussion with prosecutors.

  • "Women, Movies, and MTV" addresses sociological and social work accounts of the experiences of women in American society, including survivors of rape, spouse abuse, incest and mental illness. The course compares these accounts to historical and cultural depictions of women in movies and MTV, and examines the images of women in film as a form of cultural conditioning.

The second session runs from July 7 to Aug. 15. For more information, go to www.mcla.edu/summer  or contact the registrar's office at 413-662-5216
