OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute Announces Its First Summer Semester
Whether you live in the Berkshires full-time or you are just here for the summer, you’ll find something fun and educational to do when you join OLLI at BCC, The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. OLLI is a learning enrichment program for adults in the Berkshires; this summer it inaugurates its first summer semester adding to its already well-established fall, winter and spring terms.During the month of June, you can choose to attend one or up to all five courses offered on subjects ranging from astronomy (When Heavenly Bodies Cross Paths) to Tanglewood (The Gardens of Serenak). OLLI’s popular Distinguished Speakers Series will present stimulating lectures throughout the summer season led by prominent experts. Jeremy Yudkin, Professor of Music at Boston University, for one, will explore the genius of Beethoven. Other speakers will cover topics on science, sports, medicine and much more.
This summer, OLLI members will also enjoy escorted cultural trips by bus to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Cohoes Music Hall, and the Fruitlands Museum. Local performances will include The Berkshire Opera as well as Jacob’s Pillow with an opportunity to enjoy a pre-performance dinner and dessert with fellow theatergoers. Those who enjoy more active pursuits will want to sign up for the canoe trip at Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary. If you have a special interest you wish to pursue, OLLI can introduce you to others who share your passion.
OLLI’s summer of 2008 is packed with courses, lectures, trips and more…it’s a summer camp for adults.
OLLI is a partner in education with Berkshire Community College, Williams College, Bard College at Simon’s Rock and MCLA as well as over 29 cultural partners in the Berkshires.
