SteepleCats to hold Hometown Heroes night

NORTH ADAMS - The North Adams SteepleCats will celebrate Hometown Heroes Night and honor those who work for Police, Fire, and Emergency Services on Wednesday, as part of a doubleheader.

The North Adams SteepleCats will take on the Pittsfield Dukes in the final installment of the 2008 Battle of the Berkshires. The first game starts at 4 p.m. with the gates opening an hour earlier. At 6 p.m., public safety officials from all over Northern Berkshire County will join the SteepleCats to showcase their vehicles and high-tech devices.

Weather permitting; the Massachusetts State Police Airwing Helicopter will fly over the field between 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. The North Adams Police Department Color Guard will also be present as part of the on-field display.

Scheduled to attend are, the North Adams Fire Department, North Adams Ambulance, Williamstown Police Department K-9 unit, Village Ambulance, Clarksburg Police Department, Adams Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police.

SteepleCats Shut Out on Road

MONTPELIER, Vt. -- Four Vermont pitchers combined to strike out 11 and allow four hits Tuesday as the Mountaineers beat the North Adams SteepleCats, 11-0, in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.
 
Evan Meier, Bobby Stang, Tonny Woodie and Chris Diaz each had a hit for the SteepleCats, who used five pitchers in the loss.
 
North Adams (0-2) comes home Tuesday to host the Mystic Schooners at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Wolfe Field.
